The
stress-free way to 'write' your life story!
|
Interviews
A skilled interviewer will guide you unobtrusively through your
recorded interview(s) to help ensure that you cover all the aspects
of your life that you wish to include. You may prefer to
complete your interviews within a day or two, or you may wish to
spread them over a longer period to fit in with other commitments.
The choice is yours, and your interviews will be arranged at times
that suit you.
Interviews normally take place in clients' homes, as most people
find it easier to relax in familiar surroundings, but alternative
arrangements can be made on request.
|
 |
| The
interviewing process is totally confidential, and nothing you say
will be disclosed to anyone else without your permission.
There is very little you
need to do to prepare for your interviews. Although some
people like to start to think about what they want to include in
their life stories beforehand, others prefer their narrations to be
more spontaneous. It is a good idea, however, to sort through
photographs and any other documents you want to include in your book
so that they are available to give your interviewer. These
will be scanned and the originals returned to you by registered post
within a few days.
|
Transcription, editing and writing
The recorded tapes of your interviews will be transcribed by one of
our typists. Taking care to retain your own individual
'voice', an experienced professional writer and editor will then
transform your spoken words into well-written, organised text,
illustrated with your photographs, family tree, certificates,
newspaper cuttings, documents, poems... in fact, almost anything you
want to include.
You will then be given a computer-printed copy of your story to read
through, and will have the opportunity to make any necessary
amendments and/or minor additions.
|
Printing
Once you have returned the computer-printed proof of your story to
us, we will incorporate any changes you have made and prepare your
book for printing. Copies of your book will then be sent to
you, usually within three or four weeks.
Our standard book format is
176 x 240 mm in a good-quality paperback binding. The number
of copies you receive is linked to the number of interview hours -
for example 20 copies of approximately 120 pages following a 5-hour
interview. However, we can quote you a price for any number of
books and in any format, including a hardback or leather-bound
casing.
